Organized by the CCC school of Cricket the International Invitational Under 14 Cricket Tournament for “NELSON MENDIS” Challenge Trophy is an annual event.
It has been held for 14th consecutive years and as a tournament its supposed to be one of the largest cricket tournaments in the world in this age category.
It draws in international teams from Australia, India , UAE, Malaysia and Maldives. The tournament includes 4 groups of 8 teams a total of 32 teams.
The group stage will be played under the league system with, each team playing a minimum of seven matches on a round robin basis.
If there is anything Sri Lanka is well know for internationally, it’s Cricket and Ceylon Tea. The Sri Lanka national cricket team began with the formation of the Colombo Cricket Club in 1832. By the 1880s a national team and began playing first-class cricket by the 1920s.

In 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.
This day is observed to focus on the importance of senior citizens who sometimes are neglected in our society.
This day emphasizes on our responsibilities towards our elder in order to make their lives happier.
In todays fast paced lifestyle, older people play a pivotal role may it be through volunteer work,
transmitting experience and knowledge and even helping their families with responsibilities.
Full participation of older persons brings tremendous benefits to all generations.
The International Day for Elderly is an opportunity to focus on the important contributions that older people make to society and raise awareness of the issues and challenges of ageing in today’s world.
George Steuart Teas was happy to be a sponsor of the event organized by the Nawalapitiya divisional secretariat which was held to celebrate this important day. 1,000 plus elders participated in the event where there was a general health clinic, eye testing and issuing of ID cards.
As an ongoing CSR programme we provide a number of needy associations with tea leaves regularly. We have been continuously donation Tea leaves for consumption over 20 years for inmates at Prithipura Infant Home, Friend-in-Need Society and The Sri Lanka Cancer Society. Due to continuous donations effected, the Cancer society has elected the company as a Group Member.
